Bridal Hats with Veil

August 14th, 2011 by admin

Bridal hats with veil offer elegant alternatives for brides who aren't enamored with the miles-long wedding veil. While the bridal hat is recently returning to its own again, hats have been worn for generations, especially during the more subdued second wedding.

More than in any bygone era, today's woman dares to be different. Conventionality doesn't fit them. They no longer feel obligated to meekly follow tradition, just because things have always been done a certain way. Uniqueness is an admirable trait, yet some brides would feel underdressed without some sort of head covering during the ceremony.

While the rule book of genteel weddings may have been tossed aside, there remains no doubt the veil itself adds a nuance of mystique and has symbolized of purity since antiquity. True fashionistas will most likely honor the ages-old custom and select from bridal hats with veil.

Whether choosing the bridal hat by itself or with veil, modern brides can confidently wear these distinctive head-coverings with poise and panache. Shoulder length flyaway veils, elbow length and fingertip veils appear awesomely avant-garde in netting, chiffon or tulle. Perhaps the most attractive feature of bridal hats is that they add fabulous accents with whatever style dress the bride selects.

]]>

After determining bridal hats with veil is just the thing to make your personal statement, it's easy to pick the perfect complement to your dream dress.

Think in opposites! For the simple wedding gown, select an ostentatious hat accessorized with feathers and rhinestones. An elegant gown marries well with a more minimalist hat. In the long run, it's all about the bride on the most important day of her life.

Next, take the physical body into account and shop for a bridal hat that is proportionate. The taller bride can carry-off larger brimmed bridal hats, where the more petite person shows-off her personal best in dainty bridal hats with veil.

Like the realtor, one must consider location, location, location. For the outdoor wedding, consider the sun hat. To achieve a back to nature look, try-out a few hats adorned with feathers and flower petals and a cage netting, short veil. The bride will exude a portrait of sheer loveliness.

Don't be dissuaded by the outdated thought that the long flowing veil must be worn at indoor weddings. The stunning vintage bridal hat and cage veil is an appropriate alternative for the formal indoor ceremony. Check out the modern version of vintage hats with a satin flower and rhinestone center. If flamboyance is desirable, some are available with feather sprays or beads.

For second marriages, the bride may prefer a fashionable silk wedding suit or simple sheath dress in crème or ivory. Here, think a-la Jackie Kennedy and consider the simple, yet elegant pill box hat with a shorter veil.

Mature brides who have grown into their sense and sensibility are prime candidates for the bridal hat. They own the self-confidence to carry off a hat on comb with feathers, featuring small crystals to accentuate this truly unique headpiece.

It's never been an easy task to affix the longer flowing veil to short hair. Brides with short hair or upswept do's will appreciate built-in hair comb or barrette option in the bridal hat.

Bottom Line: Brides look mesmerizing in their bridal hats with veil.

Bridal Veil

August 9th, 2011 by admin

The bridal veil is prominent in history and offers the bride an elegance and grace as she walks down the aisle. It completes the gown. There are numerous styles of veils and they should be selected depending upon the style of your wedding dress and the formality of your ceremony.

Bridal veil is one of the most significant parts of your bridal outfit that gives a perfect compliment to your wedding gown. Bridal veils come in single, two and sometimes three tiers (layers). The two tier veils can be worn as a foundation or covering over the face until the end of the ceremony. Our bridal veils generally come attached to a plastic comb that can effortlessly be placed in the hair in the desired area. If you are wearing a tiara, you may want to wear the bridal veil a little lower on the back of your head. Lengths of veils vary from shoulder 54 inches, waist 72 inches, fingertip and knee length. More dramatic lengths include floor, chapel and cathedral lengths up to 125 inches long. Usually more formal gowns benefit from a longer veil.

As with the wedding gown, the choices of a veil are many. You should also keep in mind that you want to fit everything in with your decorations and the atmosphere of your wedding, so pick something bold to fit your theme, or something softer to be more conventional. There are a lot of delicate touches on a veil that can enhance the appearance of the dress immeasurably as long as you pick it correctly.

Wedding Veil Style Tips

June 28th, 2011 by admin

Wearing a veil on your wedding day is a time old tradition, but today even the most modern bridal ensemble can be enhanced with the addition of this beautiful ceremonial headpiece. Here we share our expertise to guide you in your selection.

* Choose a veil that blends seamlessly with your wedding gown, or consider it an accessory and select one that makes a strong style statement.

* If you've opted for a simple gown, an embellished veil will help create a more detailed and interesting overall look.

* Conversely, highly detailed gowns look stunning offset by a plain, straight veil.

* The circular veil is a classic style that features a piece of fabric that covers the eyes. It's best suited to a formal wedding.

* Also typically worn at formal church or grand outdoor weddings, cathedral veils are long and sumptuous, and extend well past the train of your gown.

* The double-layered veil harks back to the 1950s. The upper layer creates a full look at top of the head, while the lower layer of fabric is exposed further down the body.

* Mantilla veils are usually created in lace or embellished with lace trim. Cut in a circular or square shape, they're usually attached to a headband, comb or clips, and fall flat against the face. They are usually paired with a simple gown so the veil takes centre stage.

* A fun alterative to a traditional veil, the pouf looks stunning with a short, chic gown, or a slinky dress that's cut on the bias.

* Fingertip veils are another less formal, subtle look, ideal for brides who don't want their veil to be the feature of their bridal ensemble. They extend to just below the fingertips when your arms are at your sides.

* A streamer veil is a simple, straight style. It can be left unadorned to complement an embellished gown, or detailed with Russian braiding; wide, satin '50s-inspired edging'; or hand-beaded with diamantés and crystals for brides who love to sparkle and shine.

Choosing the Perfect Wedding Veil

June 4th, 2011 by admin

Every bride dreams of looking like a dream as she walks down the aisle. The first time the groom sees his beautiful bride on the wedding day is a priceless moment.  As such, everything needs to be perfect. If you want your Prince Charming to be absolutely mesmerized with you, you must have the complete bridal outfit. The smallest details often have the biggest impact making bridal accessories extremely important. A gorgeous birdcage veil can transform even the simplest wedding gown into a sophisticated masterpiece. The perfect wedding veil for any bride can be found at castlebride.com.

A wedding veil is a crucial piece of your bridal attire and should be chosen with great care. No matter how fabulous a veil looks on a mannequin it could be a complete disaster if it is not well coordinated with your wedding dress or it does not accent your hair and facial features. Thus, it is important to know the exact type of wedding veil that will suit you best. Different lengths, fabrics and designs will complement your dress and facial features in different ways. You should also remember that you want people to say you’re looking fabulous in the veil and not that the veil looks fabulous all on its own. CastleBride Couture (castlebride.com) is the perfect place to get advise as to which birdcage veil may complement you best.

Two of the first things you need to take into consideration when selecting a wedding veil will be the fullness and length. A thin veil offers transparency, while being modern and flirty, while fuller veils provide a more sophisticated alternative. Bridal veils come in a number of lengths including floor, mid-calf, fingertip or shoulder length. Long veils are very popular, as they convey the whole “fairytale princess” image. However, if you choose a long wedding veil make sure it’s removable from the headpiece, so that you won’t be uncomfortable during the reception. Short birdcage veils are also gaining great popularity recently.  This has brought a breath of fresh air to wedding fashion. A birdcage veil is both light and highly elegant, allowing you to match it with any dress or hair style.

A birdcage veil, also known as a net or face veil, is the latest bridal trend. This sassy take on the wedding veil has recently become extremely popular, evidenced by the fact that many celebrities have been found wearing them in their weddings. For instance, the lovely Katherine Heigl wore a gorgeous birdcage veil in her 2007 wedding. In films, Jessica Alba wore one in the Fantastic Four, and Reese Witherspoon wore one in Sweet Home Alabama.  These veils are typically very short, and tend to frame the face perfectly.  They do not require a tiara. Modern birdcage veils are attached to the bride’s hair with a delicate pin or comb, matching both long and short hairstyles. The best thing about the birdcage veil is that it immediately gives the simplest gown a highly elegant feeling.

Wedding veils have always been the cherry on top of a wedding outfit. These days, the birdcage veil is the ultimate bridal accessory. Birdcage veils are beautiful pieces, which have the ability to turn even the simplest gown into a stunning outfit. So, whether you’re planning to go for a modern look or are trying to put together a classic ensemble, a birdcage veil can complete the look you’re trying to achieve. In order to find the perfect veil for you, visit castlebride.com, where you can choose from a wide variety of haute and vintage couture veils.

Honoring an Ancient Tradition with the Perfect Veil on your Wedding Day

May 8th, 2011 by admin

There is something to be said for tradition. When you graduate from high school you get your diploma wearing a long robe. This is to make the occasion feel all the more special. You wouldn't feel like you have accomplished quite as much if you showed up to graduation wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

That is part of what makes a wedding ceremony feel more important. You get dressed up in a gorgeous gown and go through all the little details that make your big day feel as life-changing as it is. These details go from your shoes to your accessories and, of course, to the veil. It all adds up to a wedding day ensemble that will have jaws dropping all over the place.

Picking out the right veil is about blending your personality with the wedding dress you have chosen. You want something that will fit the overall feel of your wedding, as well as one that looks best on you. Here are a few ideas for different styles that might be the right choice for you.

Blushers

A blusher is a small veil that is constructed of one layer of either netting or tulle. It usually hangs to right around your lips when worn over your face.

For a traditional blusher look, you can wear it over your face at the beginning of the ceremony and then have the groom flip it back just before the kiss. There are also funky and modern versions that include "birdcage veils" and "fascinators." These you can wear all day and night.

Blushers always look great when combined with other elements as well. The flower comb with detachable facial blusher is a great blend of two stylish accessories. The flower itself features a rhinestone center that will sparkle in the light.

Even after the ceremony, you can remove the veil and still wear the flowers in your hair. The comb itself is 5 inches in length by 2 inches across. The blusher runs 9 inches long and hangs to just between the lips and your chin.

Shoulder-Length Veils

Short veils are the perfect option for weddings that fall on a brilliant summer day. They can be lightweight, with a single layer of material, or can have multiple layers to add volume.

If you are looking for something a little longer, consider wearing a classic long veil during the ceremony and switching off to a short one for the ceremony. This way, your dance moves won't be inhibited!

A perfect example of a timeless shoulder-length veil is the short veil with scalloped edge and beaded flowers. It hangs to just below the shoulder line and will look glorious blowing in an autumn breeze. This style runs 23.5 inches in length, 72 inches across, and comes in ivory or white color options.

Elbow-Length and Fingertip-Length Veils

These mid-length veils range from styles that hang to your elbow to ones that go down to your fingertips. If your dress has an ornate sash or other accents at the waist, you might want an elbow-length veil to show off these elements. However, if you have a more simple-looking dress, then a fingertip-length veil can help to elongate and flatter your silhouette.

The fingertip-length veil with scattered crystal edge looks simple and timeless at first glance, but the crystals that glimmer across the embellished edge give it a little extra dash of glamour. The first tier of this veil runs 30 inches down your back. The second tier is 35 inches long. As a whole, this veil measures 72 inches wide. It is available in either ivory or white.

Cathedral and Chapel Veils

These are the storybook veils that hang all the way to the floor and flow elegantly behind your dress. They are a stunning thing to behold and will make for unbelievably dynamic photographs.

The difference between the two styles is that a chapel veil is slightly shorter. The effect, however, is essentially the same. When you choose one of these styles, you may want to consider adding a headpiece with a shorter veil. This way, you can simply disconnect the long veil and enjoy your reception in comfort with a light and easy-to-wear option.

Go the distance with the cathedral length veil with beaded metallic edge. This veil is comprised of one single tier. However, it is so wide that it still has an incredible amount of volume to it. You will be amazed at how light this veil is despite its length. While it won't be any trouble, you should still consider switching to a shorter veil later so you don't get tangled up on the dance floor.

Putting together a wedding ensemble can be as stressful as it is exciting. Don't let picking out the veil overwhelm you. Take your time trying out different styles. You will know the right one when it comes along.

Several wedding gowns are shown with matching veils. This can be the ideal finishing touch for your gown, particularly when the veil is adorned with a detail pulled from the bridal gown, such as a matching lace applique. The perfectly matched veil and wedding ceremony dress established, however, can become really formal and a little bit stiff, so usually really feel totally free to select an alternate veil which seems fairly with your gown without having becoming an exact match.

As soon as you have the veil and gown worked it, it it time to place the rest of your look together. In common, the much more veil you have, the more grand or large your hairstyle ought to be. You do not want to finish up searching like a bald lady swallowed up by an enormous veil! So if you have chosen a veil with a number of tiers, for instance, opt for a wedding party hairstyle which also has fullness and a powerful presence. A sleek ultra modern bun would not hit the correct note, whereas an updo with a bit of a bump to it would be nicely balanced with a fuller veil.

A complete veil also requirements bridal hair jewelry with some presence. If your wedding ceremony is formal, a sparkly tiara can be positioned right up against the front edge of the veil, which should be put on proper on the top of the mind or just back a pinch on the crown of the mind (more narrow veils can be worn additional back again). Brides who strategy to remove their veils following the ceremony can opt for bridal hair jewelry put on in the again of a fancy updo, exactly where it will actually shine when the veil is eliminated for the reception. How to Make a Wedding Veil

May 1st, 2011 by admin

Recently I got married to the man of my life, my best friend. We had the most wonderful wedding anyone could ask for. Throughout the night we received so many compliments on how beautiful everything was and how good the food was. I wish we could relive the night all the time. And you know that saying, something borrowed, something blue, something old and something new? I had all of that thanks to my friends and family.

My something borrowed was my veil. See my mom is quite the talented crafter when she needs to be, so she made my veil, kind of. I borrowed my sister's veil from her wedding and we re-did it. It was plain with ribbing around the edges, but I didn't really like the ribbing, so we took it off. If you're starting from scratch on making a veil then all you need to do is go to the store and look at the material. You need to decide what length you want your veil to be and how wide you want it to be, then you just have the store cut it for you.

The next step is you need to decide how fancy you want your veil. If you want added jewels, gems, sparkles, ribbon, anything you wish. I personally choose ribbon for the edging of my veil, it looked perfect with the type of dress I had. So after you get your materials all you need to do is glue the ribbon onto the edge of the veil. This is very tedious because it has to be done in small portions so you can allow it to dry before working on the next portion.

Once the ribbon part is done you can glue all your fun stuff on. Just put a dab of glue onto the jewel or gem. I actually bought little Swarovsky crystals from JoAnne Fabrics to put on the veil, but once all said and done, I decided not to put them on, however, I still believe that would be beautiful as the lighting will make it sparkle.

Now I'm sure you're wondering how to finish it off to put it in your hair. I took the easy way out. We didn't use a clip or a comb, but we just used two bobby pins. The veil itself was strung through a thin fish wire and at the end of each wire was a loop so that we could put the bobby pin through the loop and put it in my hair. You can however use one of those combs for easy in and out. You would just need to wrap the fish wire around the comb a few times making a knot on each end so it will not come off. You can glue it as well for a little added security.

It's quite simple to make the veil of your dreams, you just have to know what look you're going for. Once it's complete you can wear it on your wedding day and have the greatest day of your life. Best of all, you can pass the veil down to your daughters for something borrowed and make it a family tradition.
