A bridal tiara to make a queen for a day

September 21st, 2011 by admin

Deep notes blasted from the long rams horns and light from what seemed like hundreds of flaming torches flickered around the cavern walls making Jenny's head spin. As the light danced off the myriad tiny drops of water on every surface she thought that Jake's idea of a wedding to remember was promising to be just a migraine to remember.

She had only just arrived. The wagon pulled by two bullocks (later found to be in lieu of oxen) had been the first shock but Sarah, her chief bridesmaid, had carefully covered the rough wooden seat in a large animal fur which had temporarily preserved the whiteness of her simple wedding gown and though the white silk now felt less crisp it glowed and shimmered in this strange light as if covered in jewels.

Apart from when she first ducked under the low outcrop of granite to enter this cave she had kept her eyes on where she was treading but now, after that spectacular blast of horn from five barely recognisable male friends, she raised her head to see Jake standing before her with a somewhat haughty look on his face. Looking at him she felt that she had walked into a badly acted school play but as his eyes met hers she realised that he was genuinely proud to be here with her.

]]>

Around them on both sides, dressed in rough cloth and animal skins were all their close friends and family and one stranger. She looked at him, then back at Jake

"Oh he's from the museum. I'll explain later," he whispered before taking her hand and leading her into a wide beam of natural sunlight that broke in through a gap in the rocks above. She smiled as Andrew, their friend, the vicar of the village and another keen but amateur archaeologist, moved to face them. He was also dressed in rough hooded raiments and was obviously struggling to find an appropriate expression for this unusual occasion; a broad grin was temporarily winning.

Jenny did not recognise the words that he spoke but Jake was looking straight at her and translating the ancient vows: with all the strength in my body… with the gods as witness. Then it was her turn with another archaeologist friend translating. Jake then removed the floral headband she had been wearing and turning to his best friend Steve, took something from a sturdy box he was carrying.

It caught the light on every part of its intricate design, reflecting back red fire from its bronze curves and white fire from rough stones. Jake held it before her for a moment while it seemed to Jenny that the whole room held its breath, then he rested it gently on her head whispering "my queen" as he did so.

When he bent to kiss her the whole chamber echoed with the cheers of the congregation but as they all burst out of the cave into the sunlight Jenny was still niggled by the invisible cord that kept the stranger tied to her side. " Jake, are you going to explain?"  she asked, indicating the suited man. "Ah, well, the bridal tiara  that you're now wearing was a part of a treasure trove the lads and I found in this cave last spring, 11th century probably. The city museum now owns it, so it's only on loan today as a big favour. But we couldn't have the wedding there without it; crowns, or in this case a bridal tiara is key to the whole ceremony, just as you are the key to my life, my sweet Jenny, my queen for the day

Tiara or Tantrum?

September 9th, 2011 by admin

You have finally chosen your dress for the big day after many months of scouring the internet and probably hundreds of bridalwear shops.  Perhaps you are now thinking - should I wear a veil or not?  If I do wear a veil will I be able to wear a tiara?  Do I really want to wear a tiara anyway?

Some brides feel that this might be too much whereas others want to have as much sparkle and bling as possible.

It is important to consider the style of your dress as well as your hairstyle for your wedding day.  If your dress is a very simple style you might want something simple to match this look.  Perhaps a hairband or a hairband with an embellishment - for example a crystal flower.

Many brides choose a crystal tiara worn on the crown of the head.  A veil may be attached behind the tiara.  This is probably the best choice if the veil is to be worn over the face and then lifted back.

]]>

The veil can also be worn at the back of the head.  If the hair is put in an updo style this allows the hair to remain in place without the veil being moved.  A suitable hair accessory in this case would be a bun wrap.  This is a crown style tiara which encompassses the hair.  Alternatively a vine tiara can be worn in the hair - this style of tiara can be worn around the updo and allows more freedom to place where wanted.

Alternatively, hair combs with silk flowers can be worn in the hair for a fresh spring/summer bride.

Many brides wear jewellery which has been gifted to them and so may not need to buy anything for their wedding day.  However, jewellery can be made to match hair accessories and can then be worn as a reminder of a very special day.

From a single pearl droplet to a sparkling crystal choker - the choice is endless.  The main points to consider for the bride to be is - how will my jewellery look with my chosen dress?  Will I be able to wear it again for other occasions?  Will I want silver or gold coloured metal?  Will I want matching earrings?

Perhaps you may not wish to wear any jewellery apart from your wedding ring?  No matter what you decide it is important that you feel comfortable with your choice so that you will really sparkle on your wedding day!

A Bridal Jewelry Tiara Makes Every Bride Feel Like a Princess

August 12th, 2011 by admin

There are a lot of headpieces that a bride can wear. She can wear just a veil, or flowers, or even a tiara. The bridal jewelry tiara is one of the most common things for a bride to wear on her wedding day.

There are as many reasons for this as there are women. Each woman has her own reason as to why she wants a bridal tiara for her birthday. For many the reason is that they want to feel like a princess. What little girl didn't want to be a princess on her wedding day, and all those little girls imagined wearing a crown.

Another reason to choose bridal tiaras is that they make it very easy to secure a veil and wear great hair. A tiara will work with just about any hair style giving the bride a lot of versatility in planning her look. Not all bridal headpieces will do that. Not only do they have versatility with hair styles they also have versatility with the veil placement. Tiaras allow for the veil to be put anywhere because they can help hide the comb that attaches the veil to the hair. There are tiaras that have the veil already attached, but then the bride is stuck wearing the veil the whole day and trying to dance in a long veil can be difficult.

There are many types of bridal tiaras. A bridal jewelry tiara can be as simple as a band with a single row of crystals on it. Or it can be something as big and complex as something that would show up in a beauty pageant. A tiara can also be a clip that gets attached to the bride's hair. They are larger than a barrette, and generally more intricate.

When choosing a bridal jewelry tiara it's important to keep a few things in mind. One is that the tiara and the dress shouldn't fight for attention. The bride should always be the one who shines through, but if her dress is very simple and her tiara is very complex then people are going to look at her tiara more than they are looking at her. Plus the tiara is overwhelming her dress. It's always better to stay simple and move up as needed.

Another thing to think about is ease of use. Most bridal tiaras just slip into the hair and have combs at the ends to secure themselves. For most of them that's all they need. But some of the bigger tiaras can be very top heavy and need to have extra combs or clips used to secure them. The bride should make sure that her tiara goes on easily and stays on no matter how much she moves.

There are many choices that a bride can make for her wedding day. Deciding what kind of headpiece to wear is just one of them. A bridal jewelry tiara is always a good choice. A tiara helps the little girl that the bride used to fulfill her dreams of being a princess on her big day.

How to Choose a Bridal Tiara

August 7th, 2011 by admin

As you know by starting a style of wedding dress favorite, you will find a selection of tiaras in most bridal shops. They light shine, and to model practically screaming. Not most brides-to-be can not resist, at least a couple of tries. Before making a final decision, but first understand a few things, how best to address a tiara wedding.

Tiaras come in different styles

Say the word "tiara" and most of us think of the stereotypical princess tiara - rhinestones or crystals in silver or white gold, twinkling merrily a water sign, front and center. In reality there are many variations. Diadems of pearls, with many models of mixed beads and crystals are available. And they are not all put in money. You can buy gold or yellow gold plated tiaras, too.

Shape of the tiara can also vary. You can choose a style headband to kiss your hair - sit or an inverted V-band on the forehead - one, two or three bands. There are also drawings of crowns that are more uniform in width than the classic princess style (and can have a large salon, which require its peak hist).

Combs and tape

Tiara design can also vary. These different structures determine how to set the tiara on his head. Some crowns are small ridges on each side is attached, near the end of the tape to more you get the tiara on the sides. Other - called comb tiaras - are on a larger, single comb attached, so you can pull back the comb through the hair in front. Still others are at the end with straps, bands or commodities manufactured, so you can use your hair or hair pins to keep the tiara in place. Take into account your style and what kind of design will be easier to stay in position when choosing your tiara.

A princess, beauty queen, or married? There is great value.

Princesses and beauty queens wearing their crowns on the screen, mostly as a status symbol. That's all (not) they are. A marriage on the other hand, it goes to the bride herself, not the status of a missus. For this reason tiara for the bride with a different focus than a princess or beauty queen is given. A bridal tiara accents the bride together. If you compare the photos of Princess Diana of Wales marriage to official images of the door of the Spencer family tiara, for example, you can see the difference between married Princess Diana and Diana (for photos, pictures go. Google.com and type of Diana Spencer Tiara). On the day of her wedding tiara which was worn as an accessory, surrounded by the huge sail. When worn in an official capacity as a status symbol, the tiara was much clearer.

Apart from a rotating crown with a veil, the way you wear your helmet, the difference between the part of the focus and center. Balanced on her head, the tiara is a cornerstone to draw attention to themselves. Integrated into the hair, it is part of the whole. You can wrap the turban around your bun or a mass of curls. Or, to the rear inclined at an angle - so it does not stay - and hide the ends under your hair. Puff your veil or tiara hair behind a big stress, dass

Your hair questions

What size and type of the tiara, which works best for you depends partly on your hairstyle. Can carry a great big hair tiara. Hair means a smaller scale tiara. Consider the profile before. If you wear your hair in a bun, for example, you can be your tiara set against the more visible bun or wrapped, but your hair will be more visible, thus the effect. The same tiara, which works with the bread a hair too big for smaller profile. If you want to choose a cheap tiara, you should consider when purchasing two or more experimenting until you find the best view.

Whether you wear on your wedding tiara to consult the other throughout the process. Ask your hairdresser and those who know you are, but you are honest with you about their opinions. To do this, and find a tiara looks fabulous and reflects your personality.

How to Complete your Wedding Look with a Bridal Tiara

July 26th, 2011 by admin

A tiara is a type of crown once worn by kings and emperors alike. Also known a diadem, this decorative headpiece was hugely popular with female members of the British Royal Family in the 19th century. The fashion trend eventually caught on with the commoners.  In modern times, coruscating circlets are often used to "crown" beauty pageant winners. The tiara has also become a popular bridal accessory.

When worn by a non-royal woman on her wedding day, the modern tiara has a kind of understated elegance. It is eye-catching without being ostentatious. A bridal tiara can also be used to complement certain hairstyles, especially the updo.  They even work well with veils.

Veil or Tiara?

Because most brides-to-be do not have a fortune to spend on accessories, they are often forced to choose between a veil and a tiara.  It isn't an easy choice. Both are completely impractical, which is why they are accessories. But the bridal tiara is far more affordable. Rhinestone tiaras start at only around thirty dollars. They are also much easier to take care of.  After all, veils are made of delicate materials like tulle and tiaras are made of metal and gemstones.

Of course, practicality is seldom a concern when it comes to weddings. The main reason why tiaras have gained a loyal following in recent years is because more couples are planning informal ceremonies. This includes outdoor affairs in the grass or on the sand. Big, elaborate veils do not belong at beach or backyard weddings. Bridal tiaras are more comfortable and attractive when the wind blows and the mercury soars.

Essential Accessories

Finding the right tiara is more complicated than it might at first appear. When used in place of a veil, the bridal tiara must shine. Hairstyle and face shape are often more important than the color, cut or style of the bridal gown, which is a good thing! It means that the bride can select her dress and then move on to the accessories. A bride should never wear a tiara unless she is absolutely crazy about it. There are far more affordable accessories she can use in her hair, like headbands, combs and hair jewelry.

With that said, the tiara is known as the "princess of headpieces" for a reason. When used correctly, it is the perfect complement to the right wedding gown. The bridal tiara is also far more versatile than most people think. It can be used in combination with veils and other headpieces, with upswept hairstyles and with shorter cuts.  The sheer number of options when it comes to materials makes it the perfect accessory for any kind of wedding.  Bridal tiaras adorned with crystals, pearls or rhinestones can be worn at both formal and causal ceremonies.

Face Shape

Unlike the veil, the purpose of the tiara is to draw attention to your face.  If the tiara is the wrong shape, it may make your face look too short and full or too long and thin. Let us take a moment to review a few common face shapes and the recommended tiara for each.

Round Face: A bride with a round or plump face should shop for a tiara that has some height. A bridal tiara that has a peak will make your face look longer and thinner than it actually is. The affect can be quite striking in formal photographs.

Full face: A short, thin tiara that peaks into a classic "V" on top will make a full face appear a bit longer. The illusion works well when paired with a slightly shorter dress.

Oval Face: Brides with oval-shaped faces should avoid tiaras that have high peaks, which will make their faces appear longer. A short tiara that is not overly ornate and is worn on the front of the head can make your face look less oval.

Long Face: Brides with long faces should shop for tiaras that are thin and even and have little or no height. These headpieces draw attention to the face without making it look longer than it is.

Helpful Hints

As we mentioned earlier, the best advice we can give you is to choose your gown first, then select the accessories. Hairstyle is not nearly as important as most brides-to-be assume. A talented stylist can work with almost any bridal tiara.  More elaborate hairpieces are generally designed for certain looks, which should be indicated in the product description. If you have a certain look in mind, simply ask the salesperson at the bridal salon and they will help you find the perfect bridal tiara.

Last but not least, it is important to remember that the tiara is just an accessory. In spite of its history, the fact that it was worn by kings and queens, the tiara should not outshine your bridal gown. If you select a more conservative, understated dress, your tiara should also be understated. Showy accessories draw attention away from the gown, which is obviously not the purpose of an accessory.

The bridal tiara is an affordable, versatile accessory that can be worn by any blushing bride on her big day.

I Have the Dress -now What About the Tiara and Wedding Jewellery?

May 13th, 2011 by admin

It's gorgeous - your dream wedding dress and at last the search is over.

Ah , but what about the jewellery and the tiara to match it? Maybe you've never worn a tiara before and do you need a necklace , bracelet , earrings to go with it as well?

Usually the most important planning is for the dress and then the jewellery is chosen to go with it. Only occasionally as a jeweller have I met brides who have chosen their jewellery and then embarked on a search for a dress. I once spoke to a young woman who was looking for a wedding ring and I asked when her wedding was. She replied that she hadn't met a man yet - she just fancied having the ring first - but that's another story...

So here is a general guide to buying your wedding jewellery - of course all these guides and rules can be broken - if it feels right for you , then that's OK.

The necklace is usually the easiest to decide on because you will already know what sort of thing you like. If the design of the dress is very elaborate , then choose a simple necklace and let the shape of the necklace follow the neckline - for instance , a "v" shaped dress looks good with a necklace. A gentle scooped neckline looks good with a round shaped necklace. An off-the-shoulder dress can look stunning with a choker or collar necklace. If the dress is more plain in style then the more elaborate the necklace can be. In this case , a matching bracelet or drop earrings can also complement the outfit. Brides with long necks can wear an elaborate necklace and long drop earrings very well. With a shorter neck , it's best to wear necklaces a bit lower.

The tiara is the hardest to decide on - it's not something you can wear every day as you can with the necklace , earrings and bracelet. It's a good idea to try on as many tiaras as you can and see what suits the shape of your face. When you begin trying them on you may be surprised to discover that what you had been certain about , isn't right for you. Generally , tall , curvy girls can look really good in a bold , large tiara and can take a tiara of 3 inches / 7 cms high. Smaller girls look best in a more dainty tiara with a height of up to 1.5" / 3 cms.

A lot of my customers worry about how to wear a tiara , thinking there are definite rules - but there aren't , it just depends how it looks. Most tiaras are malleable to some extent so don't be afraid to adjust the base so that it fits more comfortably. Do you wear the tiara at the front or the back of your head? Again that's up to you - and possibly your hairdresser to decide - but they can be held in place via a small hole in the back or even with some tiaras via a pair of plastic combs attached at the back.

If your tiara is very bold or elaborate choose a simple necklace or even omit the necklace and keep the earrings to a simple stud. This will ensure that the focal points of your dress look just right. If the necklace is highly elaborate , then perhaps a flower or comb at the back or the side of the head rather than a tiara keeps the balance just right.

Finally remember this is just a general guide and once again , rules can be broken - because once you look in the mirror and smile , you know it's right!

How to Choose a Tiara (wedding or Prom)

May 11th, 2011 by admin

Choosing a bridal or prom tiara can be a daunting process, especially if you are thinking of buying on-line. Therefore we have written this page to help you choose the perfect tiara for you.

A tiara is a fantastic highlight to any dress. They can be worn with or without a veil and are usually covered with pearls, crystals etc. They compliment both short hairstyles and upswept hairstyles.

When selecting your tiara, your face shape and hairstyle are far more important than the style or colour of your dress.

Types of tiara

Comb – a simple piece that can be worn with almost any hairstyle

Headband – a very flexible option. For those wearing their down, a headband can be used to keep the hair off the face. It can also be worn with upswept hairstyles too.

Bun ring – this is a complete circle that is worn around an up do and is very classical.

Back piece – this is worn at the back of the head so that the attention is not drawn to the tiara. It can be worn with a low bun or French twist.

V-band – is only suitable for a few people who want to draw attention to the front of their face and to compliment a longer face.

Choose a tiara according to your face shape

Round face – to add height choose a taller tiara or one that comes to a peak in the centre

Long face – avoid taller tiaras that will make your face look even longer. Choose a headband with little or no height.

Oval face – avoid tiaras with a peak at the top as this will make your face look even longer. A lower tiara, headband or back piece will be most flattering.

Full face – choose a tiara that comes to peak in the centre to give the appearance of a longer face.

Choose a tiara according to your hairstyle and colour

Short hair – wear headbands or lighter more delicate tiaras that don’t require too much pinning. Combs and pins or a heavy tiara are less likely to stay in place.

Upswept hair – if you are wearing your hair up, a tall tiara will be required so that it doesn’t look lost. An elaborate headband would look best, but hair combs and pins could be an alternative.

Hair down – a headband is best to keep the hair off the face.

Hair colour – dark shades of hair and platinum blondes look best with white crystals and silver tones.

Red and light brown hair tones look better with ivory pearls and gold tones.

Choose a tiara according to your wedding / prom dress

Details in your dress should be matched in your tiara. Use crystals with crystals, ivory pearls with ivory pearls etc

If you have floral details in your dress, look for a tiara with floral detail.

As a general rule, if your dress is of a modern design, then it will look best with a modern tiara and accessories. A more traditional style dress suits more traditional tiaras and accessories.

A plain straight modern dress suits tiaras with geometric patterns and/or straight lines.

Silver tone, crystals and white pearls compliment a white dress.

Gold tone and ivory pearls compliment ivory and off white dresses.

Diamond white dresses (between white and off white) are a good match for gold or silver tones.

If you have a v-necked dress you could choose a tiara that comes to a peak in the centre.

If you have a rounded neckline you could choose a softer more rounded tiara.
